I was born in Italy, but raised in Staten Island, NY. I graduated from St. John Villa Academy in 2014, and I am currently a junior at the College of Staten Island majoring in mathematics. From an early age, I had a passion for mathematics. I always dreamed of being able to share that passion through teaching. In my freshman year at CSI, I discovered the Teacher Education Honors Academy, which is specifically designed for aspiring high school math or science teachers. Being a part of this rigorous program has truly given me the opportunity to achieve my goal of being a high school math teacher. When I am not in class or studying, I enjoy playing soccer, tutoring, and giving back to my community through volunteer work at my local church.
Receiving the Harcourt Scholarship has been an honor and a blessing for me. It has greatly helped me not only financially but also academically. Being a Harcourt Scholar has motivated me to always work hard and succeed to the best of my ability in my studies. I take pride in being recognized as a scholar and I am very grateful for The Alfred Harcourt Foundation’s extreme generosity and continuous support in helping me achieve my goal.
